Join us for a day of free Arts, Crafts and Creative Technology Workshops to celebrate our children's creativity. On June 15th, we're facilitating over 120 free workshop spaces for children in our community. Pick your workshop below. Places will be offered on a first come first served basis.

Workshop 1: Chemical reactions 7+ years

In this two hour workshop the children will learn the difference between physical and chemical reactions. Our workshops are very hands on. The children will cause chemical reactions to make their own slime and make a space shuttle.

Workshop 2: Hydraulic workshop 12+years

HYDRAULICS is study of the behavior of water and liquids through pipes and channels as it relates to engineering. The liquid inside the tubing and the syringe causes the arm to move up and down. This is how hydraulics works. Children would create their own hydraulic arm.

Radio Podcasting Workshop

Children ranging in ages from 10+ years old can immerse themselves in MediaSkool’s Radio Podcasting workshop, which will be based in our acoustically treated cinema theatre. The children on this workshop will be introduced to the fundamentals of radio podcasting and supported in the production of the day, a podcast documentary of the days events through the words of the children themselves.

PAINT Workshop

Hosted in our dedicated gallery,  children ranging from 4 - 12 years of age will be introduced to an exhibition of new work by local artist Amanda Doran with a fun and accessible painting workshop. Amanda will host two workshops exploring the craft of figurative painting. The children's work will form part of the exhibition and remain in place until the exhibition finishes.

Movie Maker.png


In our Movie Maker taster workshop participants will collaborate to script, rehearse, shoot and edit their ideas to create a finished scene. 

Working closely in groups with our experienced tutors, participants learn skills and techniques that they can continue to develop after the workshop in order to make films with their own mobile technology.

Ideal for the beginner or for those already making films and want to improve. All equipment and materials supplied.

Animation Screening

Children and teenagers will be introduced to a powerful and brilliantly crafted classic animation from director Brad Bird in his directorial debut. In 2004, he went on to write and direct The Incredibles. The Iron Giant is an animated science fiction film using both traditional animation and computer animation. This animation will be screened in our dedicated 4K Dolby Vision cinema.
